  • Holiday Recess
    The university will be closed for all students, faculty and staff in observance of the holiday season.
  • OUAA Event: Grizzly Gathering at the Palace
    This event is now SOLD OUT! More than 270 OU alumni and friends will attend to cheer on the 2007-2008 Golden Grizzlies men's basketball team in a double-header at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Saturday, December 22. The Oakland University Alumni Association is hosting an evening at the Palace that you won’t want to miss. Your ticket includes the MSU game against Texas at 6:30 p.m., a reception at 7:30 - with heavy appetizers and a cash bar - followed by the OU game against Oregon at 9 p.m. The cost for tickets to both games and the reception is $50 per person.   • Women's Basketball: First 1,000 Fans Enter Free
    Support Golden Grizzlies basketball. The first 1,000 fans enter for free to cheer on the women's team as they play Niagara.

    On Saturday, December 15, 2007, Oakland University will honor its August and December graduates during Commencement exercises in the Oakland University Athletic Arena. <p> December Ceremony Schedule <br> 9 a.m. School of Business Administration and School of Engineering and Computer Science <br> 1 p.m. College of Arts and Sciences, School of Health Sciences, and General Studies <br> 5 p.m. School of Education and Human Services and School of Nursing <br><br> Each ceremony will be interpreted in American Sign Language for the hearing impaired.

  • Winter Express Orientation
    The First-Year, Transfer and Adult-Learner Express Orientation is our four-hour "express" program for students admitted for the winter semester. The orientation focuses on academic transitions including meeting with an academic adviser, discussing transfer credits, registering for classes and becoming acquainted with university resources.
  • Musical Theatre Student Showcase
    Oakland University musical theatre students will present a Vocal Coaching Showcase, performing works from Floyd Collins, The Witches of Eastwick, Into the Woods, Summer of '42, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hair, Bare: A Pop Opera and other great musicals. Admission is free.
  • Meadow Brook Hall Holiday Walk OU Night
    Holiday Walk OU Night, sponsored by the Oakland University Branch- MSU Federal Credit Union. Meadow Brook Hall presents "Tastes of the Season." Holiday merriment and good food have always gone hand in hand. Join us as we celebrate the smells, sweets and savories of the season at this 110-room Tudor-revival style mansion all aglow with historic and holiday treasures during the 36th annual Holiday Walk. It is sure to be your tastiest holiday ever! Visit with Santa Claus and enjoy light refreshments in a private reception area. $12 per person for OU faculty, staff, students and alumni and their family and friends. Valid OU ID is required.

  • Friday Night Live Featuring Eric O'shea
    Students, faculty and staff looking for a way to wrap up the week can kick off the weekend with a laugh at the Residence Halls Programming’s Friday Night Live. Comedians come to campus to help the audience laugh away the stress of the week. The Friday Night Live program started in 1997 to promote weekend activities on campus. Residence Halls Programming brings in comedians from all over the country. Some have appeared on Comedy Central, HBO, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Late Show with David Letterman." Residence Halls Programming sponsors the shows that are open to all students, faculty, staff and their guests.
  • Outstanding Research Support Achievement Award
    The Outstanding Research Support Achievement Award has been established to recognize an individual academic unit for its outstanding funded research support. This event will honor the entrepreneurial spirit of Oakland University’s faculty and to celebrate the exciting accomplishments of their research endeavors. Please join us in acknowledging the work of our colleagues who are contributing to the spirit of research excellence at Oakland University.
  • Howard Hughes Medical Institute 2007 Holiday Lectures on Science
    The OU chapter of Sigma Xi will host a live webcast of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute 2007 Holiday Lectures on Science, titled "AIDS: Evolution of an Epidemic." These lectures, aimed at a general audience, are open to all. The lecturers, Bruce Walker and Bisola Ojikutu, are leaders in AIDS research, working primarily with mouse and human tissue. They will discuss innovative public-health strategies and the development of new treatments that raise hopes for curbing the AIDS epidemic.
  • Children’s Mental Health Symposium
    Oakland University’s School of Nursing and School of Education and Human Services, with the Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency and the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, will host a community symposium, to promote positive mental health for children and encourage collaboration between health care providers and educators in the tri-county area. Keynote speaker is Dr. James Garbarino, and other speakers include Deborah Klein Walker, president, American Public Health Association; child psychologists; public and mental health officials; school administrators and parents. The symposium will be held at the UAW National Training Center, 2211 East Jefferson, Detroit. Cost for the symposium is $45, which includes continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon refreshments. The fee for students with ID is $25. Parents, students, nurses, educators, mental health professionals and anyone who works with children are encouraged to attend.
