- Morgan Freeman Spotted Narrating a Documentary, or Something [Wonk'd]
This week, Michael Chertoff, Dan Rather, Morgan Freeman, and James Carville were all spotted being various degrees of famous at various places by our spies and operatives. Voyeuristic fun, as always, is after the jump.
See someone we’ve heard of somewhere in or near the district? Tell us about it in an email, with the subject line “Wonk’d” or “Sighting.”
- Saw Skeletor (Michael Chertoff) himself (with two secret service agents and some very Republican-looking companions in tow) at Aimee Mann’s Christmas show at the Birchmere last night. Tragically, once he sat down, I didn’t have a view of his face — just the back of his gleaming head — so I can’t tell you how he reacted to Morgan Murphy’s “Motherfucking Hanukkah Fairy” rap, or whether he piped up for the “pimps only” round of Ben Lee’s call-and-response song.
- Spotted Dan Rather waiting in line and then eating his very own potbelly sandwich this afternoon (12-18) at the 11th & F location. He has a hearing aide, dressed very nicely though.
- I just saw Morgan Freeman walking out of the JW Marriott on Pennsylvania about an hour or two ago.
*I just walked past James Carville on 7th St. in Chinatown. His head really is something from another world - and adds a white-guy cred to that which we already knew. He must be in cahoots with Al on that one; raising awareness and whatsnots. I’m not sure from whence he came, but it must have been one hell of a holiday party for him to produce that much heat.
- Nick Farr Spotted Yelling at Paultards [Wonk'd]
This week, Nick Farr, Norm Coleman, and Thomas DeFranck were all spotted being various degrees of famous at various places by our spies and operatives. Voyeuristic fun, as always, is after the jump.

- Spotted Gen. Nick Farr getting off the elevator at the Woodley Park station on 12/4. It’s unclear if he’s bringing his War on Paultards to the quiet streets of Upper Northwest D.C. It would, however, be nice if he’d bring about a War on Zoo Tourists sometime this spring.
- Spotted Senator Norm Coleman last night (12/11) giddly walking down the Penn. Ave. strip with all the bars between 2nd and 3rd streets. His middle-aged aide had a hard time keeping up. He looked extremely excited to be out and kept looking into bars and passed on the Pourhouse. I wonder where he eventually ended up…he looked ready to party.
- Lunchtime, got on the westbound (to Georgetown) Circulator bus at 19th and K with Thomas DeFrank of NY Daily News, punditocracy and authorial fame. I read his press badge, that’s how I knew. Not for nothing, but he looks like the now-elderly love child of Bill Bennett and Michael Moore.
- James Carville Seen Somewhere Besides CNN [Wonk'd]
This week, Condoleezza Rice, Llewellyn King, James Carville, Martha Raddatz, Karl Rove, and Ben Bernanke were all spotted being various degrees of famous at various places by our spies and operatives. Voyeuristic fun, as always, is after the jump.

- Saw Condi last night at 600 Restaurant at the Watergate around 7:15. In aprivate room waiting for her VIP (that’s what her security guys called him) Red jacket, black pants, blinds closed. Outside her date showed up with lots and lots of firepower. He was wearing a newsboy cap, and was stature-ly and age challenged. If I’m waiting around for a dude in a newsboy cap, it better be Brad Pitt. Girl, you can do better than this guy!
- A famous for DC type: My friend and I saw Llewellyn King having lunch at Bistro Bis today (11/29) around 1. Couldn’t tell if he was eating the sweetbreads or not though. We think it was a party of four (or possibly three), but we were so dazzled by his 20-watt celebrity that we didn’t notice anyone else.
- Saw ABC news correspondent Martha Raddatz today (Wednesday) around noon @ the corner of 17th & K. She was wear a short skirt and some fierce knee-high black boots. Apparently, she’s fond of her legs, thank you very much, because she brushed off the Results Gym recruiter who was trying to give her a free 2-week membership at their new downtown gym.
- I spotted Karl Rove, returning from a Thanksgiving in Texas (?) to BWI late Sunday night. Steerage on a Southwest 737 ain’t Air Force One, but I guess he’s back to flying coach with the rest of us. Although he did have a driver with an almost comical “K. Rove” sign on a clipboard waiting for him and his wife. He was also wearing a weird hat (perhaps in the hopes it would conceal his true identity) and carrying an iPhone.
- Spotted Ben Bernake [sic], the lord and savior of our mighty economy, at the Soviet Safeway on 14th and D SE. Couldn’t believe my eyes at first, but then I saw a guy in a fishing vest casually strolling behind him, who happened to have a huge wire jammed into his skull. This grand strategerizer was seriously considering his paper towel options.
- I saw the Ragin’ Cajun himself, James Carville, at Morton’s Steakhouse in Crystal City last week! He was with two late 20s / early 30s male associates. Neither of them were cute. But, I’m sure they were the best looking gay staffers he could pull in considering his looks! Hahaha j/k
Hey, speaking of Carville, he was seen eating in New York, too, with that wife of his: “Julian Schnabel, whose “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” is getting rave reviews, dining with his two sons and Montauk neighbor Dick Cavett at Elaine’s amid the likes of James Carville, Mary Matalin and Lee Iacocca.” The man eats all over the coast, it appears.
- Larry Craig's Gay Blue Honda Reappears! [Wonk'd]
This week, Michael Mukasey, Larry Craig, Tim Russert, Jerry Rice, Marion Barry, and David Gregory were all spotted being various degrees of famous at various places by our spies and operatives. Voyeuristic fun, as always, is after the jump.

- I saw the newly sworn in Attorney General Mukasey @ Austin Grill Downtown the other night (11/14). He had 4 secret service w/ him
- Just saw Larry Craig and his wife (!!!) In his very gay blue honda element complete with “sportsmen for bush” sticker (insert joke here) in the parking lot by harris teeter in pentagon row
- Tim Russert was in section 121 of the Verizon Wireless Center for Sunday’s Bruce Springsteen concert. Lil Rus was playing a nasty air drum solo during Badlands too.
- Jerry Rice sat in front of me at a cultural show at Georgetown University on Friday. His daughter goes to Georgetown and she was a performer in the show. He was with some other people and we didn’t want to bother him, but it was nice to see him support his daughter. She came to talk to him during intermission; she kind of looks like Rihanna. I hear she’s nice. He was also at Midnight Madness at Georgetown a month ago, and the basketball coach got him to do the Soulja Boy dance in front of everyone.
- Sighted: former Mayor, city councilman from the 8th ward, Eastern Motors pitchman and bitch-set-up victim Marion Barry was at New Vegas Lounge on Saturday night with an unidentified younger woman in tow. We were super-excited.
- I was rewarded this evening with a celebrity sighting. I just left the 801 steakhouse in downtown Des Moines. David Gregory was in the next booth with a young man and woman (they seemed like college kids, but since I turned 40, everybody seems young). If I didn’t recognize him as David Gregory, I would have “read” him as a gay man. He seemed awfully effeminate (and I’m half of a gay couple, myself). The conversation they were having was very pedestrian. When it came to ordering wine, Gregory said he was “really into Fre
