They were the last 75 seats located together, available. The seats are located on the field level along the third base line, just past third base. Regular price for a seat is $43.00. Our price is $21.50. Game time is at 1905 on the 5th of June. The gates open at 1730. I will have to collect all monies prior the 1st April to pay for the seats or lose them. They will not even print the tickets until they are paid for, and they gave me until the 15th of April. I will also pick up the tickets and have them available at the hotel for those who have purchased. I was assured that the game will be sold out. They will also welcome the Navy and Marine Corps Explosive Ordnance Disposal Association Reunion of 2008, during the seventh inning stretch, on the large screen near the score board. I’m working to see what transportation we can come up with, as parking near the park is a premium. There is covered parking about a block away at a cost of $20.00 per vehicle. There is additional parking two blocks away at $10.00 per vehicle. Send to: N&MCEODA P.O. Box 80451 Bakersfield, CA 93380-0451 Attn: Wayne Wright Please indicate on the check that the money is for Padres ticket. Wayne Wright 7024 Luke Ave. Bakersfield, CA 93308 (661) 399-2517 Home Item number two: USS Midway tour; I toured the Midway recently and was offered a VIP tour for attendees of the reunion at no charge. The only time available during the reunion for an organized tour is the morning on Wednesday 4 June 2008 at 0900. The tour will be without any other guests aboard as regular tours don’t start until noon, and should last about an hour and a half. The Midway is one of two museums in the country that is totally self sustaining on ticket sales, and has only been in operation for three years. I was impressed with what I saw. Respectfully; Wayne Wright ITEM 2 OF 2 NNS071214-10. EOD Mobile Unit 5 Helps Increase Philippine Army EOD Capability By Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class (AW/SW/NAC) Daniel R. Mennuto, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines Public Affairs CAGAYAN DE ORO, PHILIPPINES (NNS) -- The U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Mobile Unit 5, Detachment 7 delivered an SRS-5 light weight explosive protection suit and provided training on combating Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) EOD Dec. 10 at Camp Edilberto Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental Province, Philippines. The explosive protection suit was presented to the AFP EOD as part of a Mutual Logistics Support Agreement (MLSA) made Oct. 2, 2007 with the East Mindanao Command in Davao, Philippines. "We've been here for about three years now and we've noticed that a lot of their personnel protective equipment wasn't sufficient enough for the IEDs here in this area," said Explosives Ordnance Disposal Technician 1st Class Eric Fisher, "By providing an SRS bomb suit will defiantly give them the right tools to complete their mission and also the survivability rate will be a lot higher." The U.S. Navy EOD team showed the AFP EOD team how to properly wear the bomb suit, how to take care of the bomb suit and actually how to employ the bomb suit using remote techniques. The AFP were given exercise scenarios wearing the bomb suit giving them a chance to use the equipment that they do have with the SRS-5. "The bomb suit is a great help for us because in our mission here we don't have any equipment for attacking IEDs," said Technical Sergeant Eduardo P. Lao of the 69th EOD Team 6th Explosive Ordnance Detachment EOD Battalion Army Support Command, Philippine Army, "We are so very grateful to the U.S. Navy personnel." A total of 16 bomb suits, pulled from a stockpile of suits formally used by the U.S. Navy EOD forces, are being delivered by U.S. Navy EOD Mobile Unit 5 to AFP EOD units throughout Mindanao as part of the MLSA. "The agreement was made between the U.S. Navy EOD and AFP EOD to advise, assist and increase the AFP EOD capability to combat IEDs safely in southern Mindanao," said Lt. Brent C. Wadsworth, Joint Special Operations Task Force–Philippines EOD commander. "The AFP EOD forces will now be more equipped to render safe explosive devices that present a significant threat to civilians within the various cities in the Mindanao area." The first SRS-5 was delivered to the AFP 6th EOD Battalion Headquarters located at Pedro Colina Hill in Cotobato City and the last suit is expected to be delivered some time toward the end of January 2008. Pat Hi Pat, I am reviewing historic munitions use as a contractor to the U.S. Navy’s on a portion of land at Seal Beach, Detachment Concord, CA that is being turned over for civilian use as part of the BRAC process. A former EOD and OB/OD area was reported in use during the 1940s to 1959 until it was moved due to noise complaints. Unfortunately, the records only cite a 50-acre area with no other information to narrow the search down. We are hoping that someone in the EOD community who was stationed at Detachment Concord can help. Clearly, given that its been 50 years, this will not be easy! Greg Peterson (former Navy EOD) has suggested that we place an ad in your publication. I will give you a phone call on Friday to get more information from you. Also, if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to contact me at anytime! Thank you and I look forward to speaking with you, Michael Schulman Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. 2000 Powell Street, Suite 1180 Emeryville, CA 94708 510.735.3040 (direct) 510.596.8855 (fax) www.pirnie.com - N&MCEODA Update 2007-74
